Boat Show tourney to alter its format
With the new year just around the corner, the Reeves Marine Tournament Trail is finalizing plans for the 2010 fishing season, including the Reeves Marine/KTBS In-House Boat Show Tournament That event is slated for a Saturday, Jan 23 weigh-in at Reeves Marine.
"We will return to the two-man team, two-bass format for this year," said RMTT director Mike Echols. "After approximately five years of the four-man team format, we had a number of teams that wanted to fish but were unable to get paired up with another team. This is just a way to make the event easy for more people to get involved.
The RMTT folks are also adding a couple of lakes that have not been on the slate but are producing some big fish.
Eligible lakes include Cross Lake, Caddo Lake, Toledo Bend, Red River, Grand Bayou (Coushatta) Black Bayou (Hosston) and Black Lake (Campti).
"More details and entry forms will be available within a couple of weeks," Echols said.
Although all of the details of the 2010 RMTT regular season trail have not been finalized, the dates and lakes have been. Here is the slate of five regular season events as it currently stands:
Feb. 13 - Black Lake, Campti
March 13 - Caddo Lake
April 10 - Cross Lake
May 8 - Red River
June 12 - Toledo Bend
The RMTT's two-day championship will be held on the Red River in January. Entry forms and further details will be released in January.
SIDE NOTE: The FLW Tour Event, slated for Feb. 10-13 on the Red River, still has some spots available for co-anglers. Anyone interested should contact Bill Taylor at (270) 252-1592 or btaylor@flwoutdoors.com.
